Singapore takes a whole-of-government approach in addressing climate change.
In late 2007, an Inter-Ministerial Committee on Climate Change (IMCCC) chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean,
was set up to oversee inter-agency coordination on climate change.
The Minister for Environment and Water Resources is a member of the IMCCC.
Other agencies reporting to the committee include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of National Development,
Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transport.
Under the IMCCC, MEWR co-chairs a Resilience Working Group (RWG) together with our counterparts in the Ministry of National Development.
The RWG studies Singapore’s vulnerability to the adverse effects of climate change and develops long-term plans to ensure that we are able to cope with climate change.
MEWR also takes part in the International Negotiations Working Group (INWG) as well as the Mitigation Working Group (MWG).
