Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, will be attending the ReSource 2012 conference in Oxford, U.K., from 12 to 13 July 2012, followed by the Petersberg Climate Dialogue III in Berlin, Germany, from 15 to 17 July 2012.

ReSource is a conference on resource scarcity, focusing on food, energy and water. Dr Balakrishnan’s attendance is at the invitation of the University of Oxford’s Smith School of Enterprise and Environment and the Rothschild Foundation. He will participate in a panel discussion on sustainable water management.

The Petersberg Climate Dialogue is an annual meeting traditionally co-hosted by Germany and the incoming Presidency of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP). It seeks to provide a forum for an open exchange of views between Ministers from around 35 developed and developing countries involved in the international climate change negotiations. The objective of the upcoming meeting, co-hosted by Germany and Qatar, is to contribute to preparing the ground for the 18th COP and 8th CMP, which will be held in Doha, Qatar, in November/December 2012.
